Day 20 I reached Festøya just in time to board the ferry across the Storfjord to Solavågen.
Ten more kilometers and I arrived at Peder Øie‘s bike workshop in Spjelkavik, a suburb of Ålesund. After a week without rear brake, time had come to get my bike again ready for fearless downhills. The repair should take up to 2 hours. It was noon and instead of waiting in the shop, I took the opportunity to get my hair cut at a nearby hair shop and subsequently to buy some food for lunch.
As the bike was ready I cycled the remaining 15 km to my Warmshowers host Marius in downtown Ålesund on the island of Aspøya. He came out to greet me and helped carrying panniers and bike upstairs into his flat. We had an enjoyable evening together with two further travellers from Germany and France and lots of delicious tacos.
