Seebad Ückeritz (Usedom) — Kołobrzeg

Day 7 It was still raining and windy as I left Ückeritz around 9am — not the best weather for a 130km cycle trip. It stopped raining as I reached Ahlbeck. I followed the broad cycle path to Świnoujście and reached the Polish border around 10.30am.

In Świnoujście I had to take (free) ferry to cross the Swina and headed to the Wolin national park. It was about 8pm as I finally reached Kołobrzeg. I friendly cyclist showed me the way to the city hall square and we had an interesting chat while cycling through the streets. My overnight host Maciej picked me up from the square and we walked to his place, only a few minutes away.
Maciej, his wife Ewa and their both children Jan and Marianna are an impressive family of cycling globetrotters. You can get an overview of their cycling adventures at www.rowerowewakacje.pl. The family is actually planning to spend one year cycling around the USA in 2018 — travel equipment including three accordeons.
Maciej is such a friendly person, full of positive energy and contagious enthusiasm! I would have liked to spend more time with them, but they had little time and I had to continue my journey.
